George Long 11 and Nancy 'Allen'
Long. He was the grandson of Rev.
George Washington Long 1 and Nancy
Elizabeth Maples Long. Also John R.
Allen and Mary 'Dawson' Allen.
William was a young child when his
parents moved from Sevier Co., Tn. to
McMinn Co., Tennessee. His grandparents
and 3 of his uncles also moved to McMinn
County.
William was a farmer by trade and also
was a member of the Baptist Church. He
served in the Confederate States Army
in Texas during the Civil War.
William Long married Mary B. 'Beckett' Long
on July 15, 1855. They were married by
Rev. Robert Grigry at the home of Mary's parents,
in McMinn County, Tennessee.
The couple were the parents of 7 children:
John Albert
Nancy Jane
Mary Elizabeth
George Lewis
Thomas Allen
Greenberry P.
Daniel R. Long.
William died in Texas, he was buried near
Ladonia, in Hunt County.
