Marie Morrison, age 100, passed away March 25, 2010, at Forest Glade Retirement Center in Bethany. Rebecca Marie was born Dec. 29, 1909, in Sooner Corner near Tuttle, and resided in Union City since 1945. She spent her life as a homemaker rearing 11 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, of 58 years.
She was born to Charlie and Edna Mae Brown, who also preceded her in death, and four sisters and two brothers.
Surviving her are two sisters, Erma Dee Harrison and Anna Lou Gabehart, both of Chickasha, and a sister-in-law, Helen Brown of Bremerton, Wash.
Marie was the proud grandmother of 29 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are seven daughters, Evelyn and husband, Wilbur Lair, Twila and husband, Johnny Boyd of Bethany, Erlenne and husband, Billy Sanders, Edweena and husband, Bobby Sanders, all of Union City, Carol and husband, Allen Stevens, Judy and husband, Charles Owen, and Betty and husband, Carl Davis, all of Mustang; two sons, Donald Earl Morrison of Eufaula and
Eddie and wife, Janet of Yukon; son-in-law, Mike and wife, Starla Oldham, also of Yukon.
Two daughters preceded her in death, Myrna Oldham of Yukon and Joretta Morrison of the home.
She is also survived by many relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice and Baptist Village, Lackey Manor Nursing Home. We would also like to thank Forest Glade Assisted Living Center for their good care of our mother.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at Union City Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Stock officiating. Burial will follow in the Union City Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to First Baptist Church, Union City, Okla. 73090, or to Good Shepherd Hospice, 4350 Will Rogers Parkway, Suite 400, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73108.
