Robert A. Markham, 87, of Stewartville, succumbs
Robert A. Markham, 87, of Stewartville, a retired farmer and real estate agent, died Saturday at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield where he had been a resident the past two weeks.
He was born March 19, 1899, in Stewartville, and married Lovina M. Guy on Sept. 1, 1921, in Spring Valley. She died in 1984.
He was reared in the Stewartville area, and after his marriage the couple farmed in the Spring Valley and Stewartville areas until 1955 when they moved to Stewartville. He then worked as a real a estate agent in Stewartville.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Floyd (June) Stelter of Austin. Mrs. Everett (Jean) Whynaucht of Rochester, Mrs. Lurene Horstmann of rural Stewartville and Mrs. William (Kathryn ) Russell of rural Rochester; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Winifred Finley of Stewartville and Mrs. Marjorie Scott of Seattle, Wash. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stewartville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stanley Williams officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery here.
Friends may call at Griffin Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today, until noon Tuesday and then at the church one hour before time of service.
