G.E. Markham, Stewartville, Dies
George E. Markham, 83, of Stewartville, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital of a heart attack. Earlier in the day he had collapsed near his home here while visiting neighbors.
Born July 31, 1888, in Aberdeen, S.D., Mr. Markham married the former Helen M. Bennett April 7, 1915, in Simpson. She is a patient at the Stewartvilla Nursing Home. Mr. Markham farmed in Olmsted County most of his life.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. David (Irene) Bolles of Rock Dell, Mrs. Joseph (Edith) Bowe of Chatfield and Mrs. Harry (Marjorie) Wood of Rochester; a son, Gordon of Zumbrota; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert of Stewartville. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin Funeral Home here with the Rev. Solomon Bass officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery here.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until time of services.
