OBITUARY-
STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Winnifred Clair Finley will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the new United Methodist Church in Stewartville. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.

Mrs. Finley, 100, of Stewartville, a housekeeper, seasonal worker and farm wife, died Wednesday (Nov. 25, 1992) at Spring Valley Memorial Hospital. She had been at the Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Grand Meadow the previous 12 days.
Winnifred Clair Markham was born Sept. 25, 1892, in Jordan Township in Fillmore County. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural Fillmore and Stewartville schools.
She married Walter Finley on Nov. 10, 1910, in Chatfield. They farmed in Fillmore County until 1952, when he retired. The family continued operating the farm, and Mrs. Finley lived there until Mr. Finley's death in 1972. For the past 18 years, she has lived with her son, Howard, in Stewartville. She was a housekeeper and worked as a seasonal employee for the former Libby, McNeil and Libby.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Esther Circle and the Thursday club for farm wives of Chatfield.

Survivors include eight sons, Herbert of Lake City, Kenneth of Tonto Basin, Ariz., Donald of Spring Valley, Archie of Wabasha, Albert of Rochester, Vernon of Chatfield, Ivan of Las Vegas, Nev., and Howard of Stewartville; five daughters, Bonita Bushman of Fountain, Mrs. Iva (Harold) Smith of Spring Valley, Helen Long of Stewartville, Mrs. Mildren (Orin) Zillgitt of LeRoy, and Kay Powell of Las Vegas; 60 grandchildren; 132 great-grandchildren; and 73 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, two daughters, four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Griffin Funeral Home in Stewartville and for one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
