Jehoaida was a farmer and a blacksmith by trade, but also served as a Justice of the Peace in the Mt. Olive area of Izard County. He was the ruling elder and Sunday school superintendent in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Olive, a church his father had founded and which still stands today. He would also preach funeral services as well as build the coffins for the deceased. He loved singing and all sorts of music and as such he led the church choir on most occasions.
