Husband of Sida Catherine (Gowen) Jeffery
Feb 6, 1925 - D. M. Jeffery Passes Away
Mr D. M. Jeffery a well known and highly respected citizen of Mt. Olive died at the sanitarium at Batesville at an early hour on Thursday morning of last week, January 29th. Deceased had been in failing health for a year or more, suffering from ailments of kidney and liver. Treatment after treatment failed to bring relief to his sufferings and on Sunday preceding his death he was taken to Batesville, where a last effort was made to prolong like, but of no avail, death resulting as stated.
Deceased was born at Mount Olive 58 years ago and lived on the old home place, where he was reared and grew to manhood, practically all his life, being successfully engaged at farming. He was well known to a host of close friends, who knew him more intimately as "Bob" Jeffery and all of whom known of the splendid life he lead. He was a devout Christian from early boyhood, being a member of the Christian Church. As a loyal and freehearted citizen and neighbor he was all that those terms imply; as a husband and father he taxed every effort in the fulfillment of his obligation as such. He was loved and trusted by all and was always found ready and willing to help in any worthy move for the betterment of his community.
Besides his wife and nine children, deceased is survived by four sisters, Mrs Lottie Compton of Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs Lou Lancaster of California; Mrs Mary Brooks of Mt. Olive; Mrs G. W. McLean of Hardy, Ark.; and two brothers, Henry B. Jeffery of Okmulgee, Okla., and J. C. Jeffery of Mammoth Spring, Ark.
Interment took place at the Hill Top Cemetery near Mt. Olive last Saturday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by J. Denton Guthrie of this place, assisted by Rev. D. R. Robertson of Mt. Olive.
