She was the daughter of George Washington Sinclair and Lucinda Cosby and was born out of wedlock.

Nancy was the sister of James, Thomas, George W. Jr., Ransom, John Abraham, Letty, Wayman and Margaret (Alley), and she was the half-sister to the children of her father's first marriage: William, Sarah Jane (Carroll), Letitia (Flannigan), Douglas, Horatio, Abigail (Belcher), Eliza and one still unknown Sinclair child.

Nancy was the mother of James H., Reuben, Ruth Ann (Hall), Verony and Joseph Jr.

The 1900 census for her in Dubois County shows her living with her son Reuben, and that 8 children were born to her and only 1 was living. She died from pneumonia in Birdseye Indiana at her son Reuben's home.

Death certificate states she is buried in Birdseye, but there is no record of burial in Birdseye. Pending further research. Could have been buried in Wickliffe or Mentor.

Note interesting fact that mother's name is stated as Cyntha.
