Anton Bertram, 92 a resident of Johnsburg died at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Fond du Lac. Mr. Bertram was a former operator of the North Fond du Lac Hotel, had been associated with the lumber business and later farmed until retirement in 1948.
He was born January 7, 1875, in Johnsburg, the son of Christ and Eva Krebsbach Bertram. He married Rose Schmitz, January 23, 1900. She died April 6, 1952. Survivors include eight sons, Mathew, Fred and Edwin of Johnsburg, Alex, Christ and Alphonse, city, and Henry and Alois of St. Peter; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Vander Grinten of Eden and Mrs. Ambrose Braun, North Fnd du Lac; 39 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother, Joseph Bertram of Campbellsport; and four sisters, Mrs. Theresa Anders of Campbellsport, Mrs. Robert Konen of Milwaukee, Mrs. Susan Finneman of Golva, North Dakota, and Mrs. Frances Ziegelbauer, Johnsburg. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, and two children.
Friends may call after 2 p.m Wednesday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Johnsburg, Rev. Robert Bier officiating and Rev. Robert Bertram, O.F.M. Cap., serving as deacon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
