He was born May 21, 1908, at Peebles, a son of the late Anton and Rose Schmitz Bertram. On May 6, 1931, he married Edwina Steffes, and she died Sept. 26, 1955. He then married Alice Pfalzgraf Lietz on July 29, 1961.
Mr. Bertram was employed by Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool Co. until retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lakeside Lodge 1402 for 25 years and Giddings & Lewis Oldsters Club.
Surviving are his wife; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Alfred (Rosalie Lietz) Otto of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Robert (Alice Lietz) Wentland of Fairfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Frances) Vander Grinten of Eden and Mrs. Ambrose (Julia) Braun of North Fond du Lac.
Also surviving are seven brothers, Alex, Alfonse and Edwin all of Fond du Lac, Mathias and Fred both of Malone, Alois of St. Peter and Henry of Mount Calvary. Two sons and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Ernest O. Dreher will officiate, and burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Johnsburg.
