Obituary for Richard William Jones (1873-1952)
Richard W. Jones, 79, of 3012 Colfax Avenue South, father of Minneapolis Police Chief Thomas R. Jones, died Friday, July 11, 1952.
Mr. Jones was a retired railroad man. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and had lived in Minneapolis 46 years. He was a member of Khurum Lodge AF&AM and the White Shrine and past patron of Minnehaha chapter O.E.S. [Order of the Eastern Star].
Other survivors are his wife, Isabella; sons, Kenneth and William Harold, all of Minneapolis; and four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Pitts, Pomona, California, and Mrs. Hazel Ford, Mrs. Helen Sulem and Mrs. Florence Clemens, all of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, July 14, 1952 at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery chapel. The body is at the Barney Anderson & Son chapel. (Minneapolis Tribune, Saturday, July 12, 1952)
