"POWERS RITES HELD AT ALFALFA
Funeral services for Albert Hugh Powers, 42, of Freer, Texas, son of Mrs. Betty Powers, Carnegie, were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 10, at the First Baptist church in Alfalfa, with Rev. Jimmy Weston, pastor, officiating.
Powers died Monday, December 7, in a Corpus Christi, Tex. hospital. He was critically injured in an automobile accident near his home on October 10. Interment was in Alfalfa cemetery.
Powers was born April 26, 1928 and was married to the former Orvella Ratliff December 24, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Tex.
He was a member of a seismograph crew and he and his family travelled extensively throughout the United States but had resided in Texas the past six years.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two daughters, Alberta of Houston, Tex. and Julia Powers of Freer, Tex.; two sons, Fred of Sheridan, Wyo. and Douglas of Freer, Tex.; two grandson; his mother, Betty Powers of Carnegie; four brothers, Eugene of Carnegie, Raymond of Wichita Falls, Ruben of Olton, Tex. and James of Fairbanks, Alaska; six sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Mathews and Mrs. Betty Polly of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Doreta Lawrence and Mrs. Kathern Clinton of Carnegie, Mrs. Mattie Mae Shackelford of Swan Lake, and Mrs. Barbara Patterson of Fort Worth, and his grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Anderson of Sacremento, Calif."
