Funeral services for Mrs. Orvilla May Powers, 47, a former Carnegie resident, were Tuesday, July 6, at the Alfalfa Baptist church with the Rev. W. Dean Rainwater, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery. Mrs. Powers died Saturday, July 3, at her home in Freer, Texas.
Born August 19, 1928, Mrs. Powers married Albert Powers in 1945 at Carnegie. They continued to reside here until 15 years ago at which time they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas. They later established a residence in Bay City, Texas, and moved to Freer in 1969. Mr. Powers preceded her in death in 1971.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Thelma Ratliff, Alfalfa; three sons, Fred of Cordell; Doug of Colony; and Travis of Freer; two daughters, Mrs. Alberta Davis of Bay City and Julia Powers, Alice, Texas; two brothers, Ralph and Eugene Ratliff of Carnegie; three sisters, Mrs. Lois West and Mrs. Luetta Carter, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Lucille Clinton, Minneola, Kansas; and 7 granchildren."
