Simuel B. Powers Funeral Services Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Simuel B. Powers, Dallas, were held at the local First Baptist church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. N.N Antonson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Powers was born November 28, 1916, at Sam B. and Betty Powers at the farm home east of Carnegie. He had lived most of his life in California after leaving Carnegie in 1935. He had moved to Dallas less than a year ago, where he died Monday.
He was married to Doris Alexander on June 22, 1941, in Fresno,m Calif. Two sons were born to them. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Lutheran church in Fresno.
Survivors include his sons, Gary and Jerry of Irvington, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Betty Powers of Wichita Falls, Tex.; six sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Methews, Wichita Falls, Mrs. Doreta Lawrence, Carnegie, Mrs. Kathern Clinton, Carnegie, Mrs. Mattie May Shackelford, Portales, N.M., Mrs. Betty Ruth Polly, Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Barbara Ann Wetzel, Wichita Falls.
Also surviving are five brothers, Raymond, Wichita Falls, Reuben, Olton, Texas, Gene, Carnegie, Albert, Chickasha, and Jimmie of Fairbanks, Alaska, all of whom were present for the services.
Graveside military honors were under the auspices of the American Legion.
