Mr. Melton was a disabled veteran of World War I and was a longtime resident of Christian County, Missouri. He died at the age of 80 in Cox Medical Center. Survivors include a son, Joseph Melton of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Birdie McGinnis of Ozark, Mrs. Lucy von Marenholtz and Mrs. Flora Bray, both of Seattle, Wash.; his step-mother, Mrs. S. D. Melton of Kilgore, Tex; four half-brothers, Virgil of Kilgore, Tex., Harold of Kansas City, Loyce of Gridley, Calif., and Everett of Joplin; two half-sisters, Mrs. Nola Whisman of Henderson, Tex. and Mrs. Bessie Cottrell of Tyler, Tex.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Funeral Home with Edward Buttram and Joe Sponaugle officiating. Burial was in Highlandville cemetery.
