His first marriage was to Maxine; his second to Gladys Little.

Uncle Virgil led a very colorful life. He was a member of the O'Malley gang that had numerous "adventures", visiting banks throughout the Southwest from 1932-1935. He had several 'stays' in various state institutions. In 1936, he began a 25 year stay at Leavenworth, Kansas; then transferring to Alcatraz Island, San Francisco.

He came home to Missouri. His death at age 84 is recorded; however, not mentioned in the local newspaper. He had no children.
