MILLINOCKET, June 26 -- Maxime Joseph Legassey, 74, born in St. David, and for the past 38 years a resident of Millinocket, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Simon P. Simon, Tuesday evening after a long illness. He was for many years engaged in the lumbering business in various parts of the state and was also employed by the Great Northern Paper company.
He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. George Thibodeau of East Millinocket, Mrs. Peter Moscone of Boston, Mrs. Melvin Carter of New York City, Mrs. Simon Simon of Millinocket, Mrs. Alexander Williams of Rockville Center, Long Island, Mrs. George Logan of Brooklyn, N. Y., and Mrs. John Tracy of Millinocket; also surviving are four brothers, John Legassey, Millinocket, Paul Legassey, Madison, Eloi Legassey, St. Agatha, Fred Legassey, Old Town; and three sisters, Mrs. Edward Boynton, Mrs. Benjamin Boutaugh, both of Millinocket, and Mrs. Joseph McDonald of Skowhegan. There were also 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren surviving.
Mr. Legassey made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Simon P. Simon of Millinocket. He had been in good health until the past year and a half.
The funeral will be Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Martin of Tours church. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery in Millinocket.
