MILLINOCKET, Aug. 27. -- The funeral services of the late Mrs. Victoria Legassey were held at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic church on Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. Father John Hogan officiating at the requiem high mass. The pall bearers were Thomas Perro, Remi Garwin, Daniel Thibodeau and Lucien Lemieux. Interment was in the local cemetery.
Victoria Derosier was born in St. Basile, N. B., Sept. 25, 1850. She was the daughter of Maxine and Leopol Derosier. The family moved to Grand Falls when the child was small and when she was fourteen to Frenchville. At the age of eighteen she married Joseph Legassey of Frenchville and they settled in Saint Agatha upon a farm. Fourteen children were born to them and in 1906 they came to live in Millinocket. The husband passed first, and last Sunday night, after an illness of only a few hours, the aged wife and mother breathed her last.
She leaves to cherish her memory the following children: Maxime of this town, Mrs. Agnes Boutaugh, also of Millinocket; Eloi of St. Agatha, Paul and John of Millinocket, George of Madison, Fred of Millinocket, Mrs. Elise McDonald of Skowhegan and Mrs. Mary Boynton of Madison. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Olive F. Francoeur of Petit Sault, and three brothers, George W. Deroiser of Montana, Joseph of Bangor and Maxime of Van Buren. There are also numerous grandchildren, and 64 great-grandchildren. The family have the sympathy of many friends in the loss of a beloved mother.
