Around 1872, Nelson married Loudelia Emma Herndon (1848-1939). She was a daughter of Thomas J. Herndon and Valina Barlow O'Kelly. In 1880, they were living in Chatham County, but by 1900, they'd moved to the town of Mebane, Alamance County. In 1900, Nelson's mother, Mary Wells Lineberry (1819-1910, Mrs. R. Brantley York) and two nephews, A. Brantley York (1871-1902) and Herbert Sharpe York (1875-1947), sons of his brother Wesley, were living with them. A. B. was a druggist, and Herbert was his clerk.
Nelson and Loudelia had two daughters:
Mary Lula York (21 April 1875-15 Dec. 1939) married Ned Faucette Brannock (27 Nov. 1873-16 Jan. 1961), a college professor. He was a son of James Monroe Brannock and Rosanna Faucette. They had at least five children: Durant York Brannock (20 July 1904-Sept. 1986. Clemson, SC), Annie Lee Brannock (c. 1906), Mary Emma Brannock (22 May 1908-17 Oct. 1974, m. Brinson Rouse), Madge O. Brannock (1914-?), and Edith Ruth Brannock (1918-?).
Annie V. York (5 Dec. 1878-8 June 1950) married Dr. Edwin Allbright Crawford (15 August 1872-13 Feb. 1938), a dentist. He was a son of of Samuel Crawford & Elizabeth Patterson of Alamance. They had two children: Grace Patterson Crawford (1902-1903) and Ruth M. Crawford (5 Feb. 1905-15 April 1993, Mrs. Wilkinson).
Many thanks to Jason & Mitzie who originally created this memorial and kindly transferred it to me.
