He was affectionately known as Fred. He met and married the love of his life Neva Brett Lindsey on April 28, 1929 in Toano, James City County, Virginia. They resided in Newport News. He was employed with W.E. Barrett in Newport News, Virginia. He later became employed as a Chauffeur for many years from which he retired.
Fred and Neva divorced on September 18, 1950 after twenty-one years of marriage. They had no children.
Early in the 1950's he decided to relocate to Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland where his brother Waddell was residing and many other family members that lived nearby in the city of Baltimore. Fred met Marie who became his companion until his passing in October 1981, his date of death could not be found.
Special blessings to his great niece Glenda Chester of Baltimore City, Maryland who assisted with his daily care and weekly doctor visits.
Fred was the sole survivor of his family, both his parents and eleven siblings of eight brothers and three sisters all predeceased him.
Fred and Neva both passed away just days of one another in 1981 in different states.
Note:
Fred Meekins has no grave marker or headstone. I have made a request to the cemetery caretaker to place a grave marker on his grave along with a photo of it. I also made a previous request for a grave photo of his burial plot which has been done.
