Alan L. Deakin died of natural causes at Graham Hospital in Canton on December 23, 1994.

He was the son of Justus and Nellie {Kaler} Deakin of Cuba, Illinois. He married Marjorie Hamm in Bowling Green, Missouri on August 14, 1941.

Surviving are one daughter: Reita (David) Harn of Lewistown, Illinois; two brothers: Gerald of Galesburg, and Robert of Atkinson, Illinois; and two sisters: Margaret Henderson of Smithfield, Illinois, and Mable Graham of Fiatt, Illinois.

He was a farmer and a coal miner most of his life.
