Born and raised in New Berlin, Don attended the New Berlin school, but left school early to enter the United States Army. He served his country as a medic from 1943 until his discharge in 1946, seeing service in the Philippines and Okinawa. Following his discharge, Don returned home to New Berlin. In his early working years, he was a bartender for the Eagles Club of Norwich, and also worked for Lily White in Sherburne, the Ed McGowan Construction Company and Bennett Ireland. His longest and most recent employment was with Bendix in Sidney, known now as Amphenol, where he worked as a machinist, retiring in 1985 after about 30 years of service. In the early 1960's, Don moved to his present home in Mt. Upton. He was a life member and past Commander of VFW Post #2782 of Norwich, as well as a former member of the Moose Club and Norwich Elks Lodge #1222.

Born Oct.26,1923, Don was the son of Elden and Martha (Prosser) Gage. On June 4,1966, in Norwich he married Isabelle Church Moon Gage. First marriage to Marie Edna (Colyer) August 1947.

Interment with full military rites in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mt. Upton.
