Marie E. Broadbent, 92, of South New Berlin passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024 at her home surrounded by family and her close friends. She was born the daughter of the late Harry and Winifred (Northrup) Colyer in Norwich on May 29, 1931.

Marie was a masterful musician who taught herself to play the organ. She used that skill professionally as the organist at the South New Berlin Baptist Church from 1958 until 1968 and played the piano and organ for worship services and special occasions in the Gilbertsville, and other local churches, for over 40 years. She sang in a barbershop quartet, gave piano lessons, and organized countless musical events. Marie was a long-time member of the Butternut Valley Grange in Gilbertsville and a member of the Rebekahs in South New Berlin. She was a dog lover, a bird watcher, and a source of much good for her community. Marie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving children; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Marie was predeceased by her first husband Donald R. Gage, second husband Ernest "Bud" Broadbent, sisters Beverly Wright, Naomi Burt, and Patricia Kuhn and her daughter-in-law Maryellen Gage.

Family and friends are invited to Visitation Hours on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 2 PM-4 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 113 Marion Avenue, Gilbertsville, NY 13776. Her Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation. Marie will be buried at the Riverside Cemetery in South New Berlin in the Spring.
