For OFFICIAL information or questions on those buried in Union, please send an email to the OFFICIAL email address for Union. The link to the email address is found on Union's Bio Page here on Find A Grave.

The cemetery can be reached through their Facebook page. There is no longer an official website for this cemetery. There is no cemetery office on the cemetery property, but any inquiries can be directed to that Facebook page.

For the memorials on Find A Grave In MVUC, if there is a candle flower on that memorial from this account, then that person is included in the OFFICIAL cemetery records. Just because someone says they have the original records, doesn’t make it true.

As of January 10, 2020, there are 47 memorials that are listed on Find A Grave that are not confirmed as being in McDonough Village Union Cemetery per official records (and some are duplicates). The original handwritten records are in the safe and only the association has access to them.

THERE HAVE NOT BEEN HUNDREDS OF STONES LOST. NOT SURE WHERE THIS INFO CAME FROM BUT IT'S NOT TRUE. THE ORIGINAL HANDWRITTEN RECORDS FOR MVUC ARE LOCKED IN A SAFE. SOMEONE MAY HAVE A COPY OF THEM BUT NOT THE ORIGINALS. VOLUNTEERS FOR Find A Grave HAVE SHARED WHAT THEY HAVE FOUND WHILE TAKING PHOTOS BUT IT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL LIST. A lot of information has been shared with creators of the memorials in MVUC (OBITS, DEATH NOTICES, SECTION, LOT AND PLOT NUMBERS, history from the past town historians as well as from personal family journals by this account.) The other creators/contributors control what info they choose to use, or change on their memorials. There have also been messages that were left publicly here on Find A Grave that confirm the above. Candles have been left on the memorials in MVUC that have been confirmed with official records. The list from the Chenango County Historians Office is not an official list. There is a book being published on the interments in Union and it will be available soon. It will be an official list and history of those buried here. All others that may be published will not be recognized as official as they were not done through the cemetery board.

The entity with the original handwritten records for this cemetery is the McDonough Village Union Cemetery Association. These records have been verified and every stone has been photographed. Also, all the Lot, Plot and Section numbers for every memorial has been shared with other contributors from Find A Grave who have created memorials in Union. There are copies of all these messages.

Westview Cemetery, German, N.Y. Please visit the Official Facebook page as linked on the main page here on Find A Grave. Thank You.

Email is disabled. Send a correction, question, etc. through one of the memorials managed by #47079039 and it will be received.

Have only added complete obituaries that were written before 1923, unless it is family. Find A Grave states not to leave the names of living relatives in an obituary. Please DO NOT add the complete obituary to any of these memorials via the Flower option. If seen, they will be reported to Find A Grave. Please don't send obits asking to add the complete obit. Thank You. Also, no census information or death certificate information will be added to memorials managed by #47079039. Memorials transferred to this account that have census info on them will be left as is. If you'd like an out of guidelines transfer, if it’s not a closer relation, then a transfer will happen. You shouldn't move a memorial to another cemetery if you find out yours is wrong. It then makes the original look like the duplicate. If this happens Find A Grave will be notified. If you believe there are mistakes, or a duplicate has mistakenly been made, please send a message and it will be taken care of if you are correct. Easiest way for this to happen is to send proof. If it can be documented, it will be taken care of. Everyone makes mistakes. Thank You.

No linking to unknown burials will be done from this account.
