He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII having served with the 18th Infantry Division attaining the rank of Private First Class & serving with the U.S. Infantry Brigade 1st Infantry Division. Mr. Gage was a P.O.W. for 2 ½ years and was taken captive in Tunisia, also having served through out Algeria-France, Morocco, & Central Europe. He earned the American Defense Service Medal, European-African- Middle Eastern Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge with Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Expert Rifleman Badge, & Presidential Citation P.O.W. Medal.

Mr. Gage worked for Digital Corp. as a security guard. He was a member of the D.A.V. - Life Long Member, Ex P.O.W. -Life Member, V.F.W. Member, & Sons of Italy Lodge # 185. He was a master black belt in Tae Kwon Do Karate, while in Korea he was certified and registered in Japanese Karate as a black belt. Mr. Gage was honored as a Grand Marshall by the City of Leominster several years ago in the Johnny Appleseed Parade with Ex P.O.W. Donald LeGay.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Mary(Barassi) Gage on December 8, 2008, a son Alan Gage, a brother Donald R. Gage,(Find A Grave Memorial# 117389817) two sisters Norma Williams(Find A Grave Memorial# 100766074) & Geneva Torrey(Find A Grave Memorial# 41491436).
