The Sandersville Progress, 8 Oct 1919:
MRS. GEORGIA WICKER HAS PASSED AWAY
One of the Most Remarkable Women of the County Died Last Thursday Night
Mrs. Georgia Wicker, widow of the late Mr. John Wicker, died at her home of South Harris street last Thursday night at the advanced age of eighty five years and nine months. She has always been vigorous and active and her passing away was the result of a general break-down of the physical being on account of advanced years. For more than forty years she had resided at the home in which she died and she was one of the best known women of this section of the state, the friend and counselor of all who knew her, and the announcement of her death caused many expressions of regret that her days on this earth had ended. She is survived by ten children. Messrs. Blucher, Thomas A., Herschel, George and Lee W. Wicker, Mrs. W.O. Donovan of Lyons, Mrs. G.W. Stubbs of Kentwood, La., Mrs. J.G. Tyler, Misses Julia and Annie Wicker. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. W.A. Wray, at the residence Saturday morning at eleven o'clock, assisted by Rev. Robert Kerr of the Methodist church, after which the burial took place in the city cemetery. A large concourse of friends of the family assembled to pay their last respects to one whom they had honored for her many noble traits of character during her long and useful life.
