Velma Swenson Last Rites Held
Velma Frances Swenson was born to William Reichert and Myrtle Hedden Reichert on June 26 1909, at Geneva and passed away on October 10. 1982, at Geneva, at the age of 73 years, three months and 14 days. She was one of three children in the family.
She attended Geneva public schools and graduated in 1929. She taught rural school 13 for one year. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Velma was married to Orville Swenson of Davenport on August 30.1932, and to them four children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by one granddaughter.

During retirement years she and her husband spent the winters in south Texas and traveled extensively. She was a devoted wife and mother and took great pride in her family. She liked to sew and in later years spent much time quilting. As a faithful Christian she endowed her children with spiritual principles.
Funeral services were conducted by the Church of Christ in Davenport on Tuesday, October 12, with Mabrey L. Miller officiating.
The York College Quartet sang "Above the Bright Blue," "When He Comes In Glory," and "Amazing Grace."
Pallbearers were Harley Grone, Willard Hinds, Vern Corman, Kirk Lichty, Robert Sanner and James Hinkle.
Interment was in the Shickley Cemetery with Farmer & Son Funeral Homes of Geneva in charge of arrangements.
