He departed this life at the home of his son Vergil in Geneva, Sunday, September 23, 1956, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 19 days. He had been in failing health the past year and a half.
He was baptized and later confirmed in the English Lutheran church at Bruning by Rev. William Kretke. He received his education in the public schools of Fillmore county.
December 2, 1908, he was united in marriage to Myrtle L. Hedden at the home of her parents by Rev. J. Bruce Wylie. To this union were born three children, a daughter, Velma (Mrs. Orville Swenson) of Longmont, Col., and two sons, Vergil W. of Geneva and Herbert M. of Seattle, Wash.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, three sisters, Louisa and Margaret of Bruning and Lydia Trapp, two brothers, C. F. and J. H. Reichert, all of Bruning. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death August 27, 1956. His parents, two brothers, George and Paul, and two sisters, Mary Seifried and Katherine Eppenbaugh, also preceded him.
