He was baptized and later confirmed in the English Lutheran church at Bruning by Rev. William Kretke. He received his education in the public schools of Fillmore county.
December 2, 1908, he was united in marriage to Myrtle L. Hedden at the home of her parents by Rev. J. Bruce Wylie. To this union were born three children, a daughter, Velma (Mrs. Orville Swenson) of Longmont, Col., and two sons, Vergil W. of Geneva and Herbert M. of Seattle, Wash.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, three sisters, Louisa and Margaret of Bruning and Lydia Trapp, two brothers, C. F. and J. H. Reichert, all of Bruning. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death August 27, 1956. His parents, two brothers, George and Paul, and two sisters, Mary Seifried and Katherine Eppenbaugh, also preceded him.
Mr. Reichert was a contractor and carpenter for many years in this community. His fine workmanship and careful planning made his services in great demand. He retired a couple of years ago due to failing health. He underwent a severe operation last spring and never fully regained his health.
Funeral services were held at the Hrubesky-Farmer funeral home in Geneva at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday, September 26. Dr. F. E. Pfoutz officiated. Mrs. H. A. Rosenau of Geneva, soloist, with Mrs. Willard Foster as accompanist, sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Crossing the Bar.” Pallbearers were Walter Rhoda, Vernon Dearking, George Arnold, Milo Crawford, James Matejka and Fred Underwood. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
