Jacob H. Reichert, son of Gottlob and Frances (Fettig) Reichert, was born Feb. 15, 1890 at Bruning, Neb. He died Feb. 24, 1984, at Heritage Nursing Home, Geneva, Nebr.
He was baptized Easter Sunday, 1890 and was confirmed March 23, 1913, in the English Lutheran Church of Bruning.
He was united in marriage to Mera Bruckert by Rev. Herman Wennermark, pastor of the English Lutheran Church.
Jacob was superintendent of the Sunday School for six years. He served on the Board of Education two terms and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He lived in the Bruning community all of his life except for eight years that he lived at O'Neill.
Jacob and Mera lived on their farm east of Bruning until March, 1952, when they moved into Bruning.
He leaves to mourn his death, his daughter, Eileen (Merle) Ough; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Lavada Bruckert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mera and infant daughter, Lola Thelma; five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Feb. 28, in the Methodist Church in Bruning. Burial was in the Bruning Public Cemetery.
