Orville Ackroyd Swenson was born June 16,1911, to Arthur E. and Lois Rousch Swenson on the farm northeast of Davenport. He passed away on March 21, 1992, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 5 days. He was the oldest of three children in the family.
Orville attended Thayer County District 90 school through the eighth grade and graduated from the Shickley High School in 1930. He then enrolled and attended Peru State College for a brief time.
On August 30,1932, he was married to Velma Reichert of Geneva at the home of the bride. Their four grandmothers were among the guests at the wedding. Four children blessed this marriage.

He farmed until 1950 and took great pride in his registered Ayrshire cattle. Upon leaving the farm, he and Velma moved to Longmont, Co., where they operated a neighborhood grocery. He also worked as a carpenter, taxi driver and at several other occupations, always providing for his family.
In 1969 he and Velma moved to Unity, ME, where he served as minister for the church. He also ministered to churches in Hamilton, N.Y., and Osawatamie, Ks. He retired in 1975 and returned to Nebraska to live in Geneva. In retirement years Orville liked to travel with his RV and winter in the Rio Grande Valley until poor health prohibited further travel.

Velma passed away October 10, 1982. On December 12, 1982, Orville married Margaret "Peggy" Algreen. The wedding was held in the house on the family farm near Davenport
He was a member of the Church of Christ As part-time minister he officiated at the weddings of two daughters, a son and at the re-marriages of his mother and his grandmother.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, his wife, Velma; a granddaughter and by his
daughter-in-law, Reba J. Swenson.

Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 1992, with Dr. James Hinkle and Rev, Stephen Fulks officiating. Congregational hymns were. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace."; Harriet Hinkle and Leonard Arnold sang "Above the Bright Blue," "An Empty Mansion," "What a Day That Will Be" and "How Great Thou Art" Interment was in the Shickley Public Cemetery.
