Lura is the second child and 2nd daughter of Olive Leolia (Ussery) and Andrew Jackson Gideon Green. She came to Texas with her parents in a covered wagon soon after she was born. She lived in Collin County most of her life. She married William Henry May on October 24, 1909 and they had 7 children:

MRS. W.H. MAY OF BLUE RIDGE PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Lura Beatrice May, 76, of R-1, Blue Ridge, passed away at her residence Thursday. She was born in Alabama September 30, 1896, the daughter of Andrew and Olive Green. She married William H. May October 24, 1909.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church at Blue Ridge with Revs. Peck Williams and W.S. Milton, officiating. Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. May had been a Baptist for the past 60 years.

Surviving are her husband W.H. May of Blue Ridge; five daughters Mrs. A.J. Press and Mrs. E.A. Randles of McKinney; Mrs. Willie B. Montgomery of Nevada; Mrs. W.H. McCarley, Blue Ridge; Mrs. Floyd Jeffcoat, Farmersville; two sons Orvis May, Garland; Herman May, Farmersville; three brothers, Frank Green, Dallas; Carl Green, Dumas; Lloyd May, Mountainair, New Mexico; five sisters, Mrs. Sam Alexander, Mountainair, New Mexico, Mrs Era Green, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Albert Hendrix, Tuscola, Texas; Mrs. R.C. Hall, Slaton and Mrs. John Addington, Lubbock; and 13 grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the funeral were Sam Barnett, Malcolm Penny, Burt Durham, Herlin Smoot; Cordell Smoot, and James Lee McCarley.
