Carl Raymond Green was the son of Olive Leolia (Ussery) and Andrew Jackson Gideon Green. He was a telegraph operator for Western Union before he moved to Sweetwater. He met and married his wife Naomi Louise Chastain in Bentonville, AR (May 25, 1930) before he moved to Sweetwater to work at the refinery. They moved north of Dumas (Etter, TX) during the war to do government manufacturing. After the war the plant became Phillips Petroleum, and he stayed with Phillips until his retirement.

Carl and Naomi had two children:

Carl Weldon Green b. 30 Jul 1932
Harrell Rogers Green b. 18 Aug 1935
