Obituary
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Edna Mae Cormier, age 76, the former Edna Mae Arnaud, who passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 8:05 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Tony Huval and Pris Fontes. Giftbearers will be Jessica Broussard, Amanda Bearb and Brittany Menard.

Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, J'Irai La Voir Un Jour, Isaiah 49, Here I Am Lord, and Hail Mary, Gentle Woman.

Ms. Cormier was a native of Arnaudville and a resident of Carencro for most of her life. She had been a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro and a member of the Bonne Mort Society, Sacred Heart League, St. Anne Society and the Ladies Altar Society.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Lewis Cormier of Carencro, Steven Cormier and his wife, Tina, of Carencro, and Matt Cormier and his wife, Jullie, of Arnaudville; three daughters, Florence Pellerin and her husband, Irvin, of Scott, Pauline Broussard and her husband, Keith, of Sunset, and Mona Smith and her husband, Byron, of Carencro; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; three brothers, Edwin Lewis Arnaud, Jr. and his wife, Mildred, of Ossun, LA, Andrew Huey Arnaud and his wife, Lucy, of Carencro, and John Leo Arnaud and his wife, Melissa, of Arnaudville; three sisters, Margaret Arnaud of Maurice, LA, Elizabeth Trahan and her husband, Calvin, and Priscilla Fontes and her husband, David, all of Carencro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Cormier, Jr.; one son, Paul Allen Cormier; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Arnaud, Sr., mother the former Florida Badeaux; an infant great granddaughter, Khloe Faul; one brother, Joseph Jerry Arnaud; and one sister, Frances Quebedeaux.

Pallbearers will be Robert Cormier, Shawn Cormier, Steven Cormier, Shane Cormier, Matt Cormier, and Wayne Pellerin. Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty Pellerin, Keith Broussard, Byron Smith, and Irvin Pellerin.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
