JOPLIN, Mo. Alberta Sally Mills, age 85, 402 N. Walnut, died at 10:10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at her home following an illness.
Sally was born Dec. 9, 1916 in Baxter Springs, Kan. She has lived in Joplin, Mo., since 1949. Her parents were Albert and Amy (Vanetta) Bash.
She was a waitress for Ogles Caf, a store clerk for Stop & Go Grocery Store in Joplin, and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed a fun-filled life, which included going dancing with her friends. She was a member of the Gospel Workers Church, Joplin, Mo.
She was married to Robert W. Mills on April 20, 1949 at Bentonville, Ark. He passed away June 15th, 1998 after 40 [49] years of marriage.
Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Mills Jr, and Everett Shallenburger, and one daughter, Connie Butler, all of Joplin, Mo.; four brothers, Leroy Bash, Stafford, Texas, James Bash, Galena, Kan., Les Bash, Joplin, Mo., and Clayton Bash, San Pablo, Calif.; four sisters, Nadine Hairgrove, Vaccaville, Calif., Ruby Jenkins, Galena, Kan., Virginia Sturgeon, and Nora Bash, both of Baxter Springs, Kan.; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at Fairview Cemetery, Joplin, Mo. Rev. Phil Erwin will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Eric Babbit, Robert Garrison, Raymond Sturgeon, Jack Wyatt, Jimmie Bash, Rick Moran, and Andy Kinslow. [Jack Wyatt was unable to attend]
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, Kan.
