Bern), Ursula (30, Bern), Elizabeth (5), Barbara (4), Maria (2), and Johannes (age 8 months). Lived variously in Richland Co. OH, Wood Co. WV, finally in Milford, IN. His widow and several of the children later moved back to Mansfield, OH. Widow Ursula Lantz Beer is buried in Lantz Cemetery, Richland County, Ohio. From The Milford (Indiana) Mail -- Thursday, 4 Jan 1917:
DEATH OF JOHN BEER. "John Beer, an aged and most highly respected citizen of south James Street, died about 9 o'clock Saturday morning (Dec. 29, 1916). The aged gentleman had been in poor health for several months and during this time suffered much at times. He was born in the year 1835 and passed away on his birthday. His wife who survives him was born the same year and the same day. Father Beer leaves a wife and 8 children; namely, Lizzie Fuhrer, of Mansfield, O.; Mary Witchie, of Milford; Jonathan Beer, of Toledo, O.; David Beer, of Mansfield, O.; Jehu Beer, of Milford; Christian Beer, of Milford; Miss Emma Beer of Milford; and also Elsworth Beer, of Milford.
The funeral was conducted from the Apostolic Church in Milford at 1:30 p.m. by Elder Ed Haab, his pastor. The burial took place under the direction of funeral director C.R. Brittsan, at the Milford cemetery. Because of the respect that had been manifested for the deceased, a large procession followed his remains to the church, and also to the cemetery. Mr. Beer was an honest man, and a devoted Christian. Whenever his health would permit, he could be seen winding his way to his preferred church early Sunday morning, and not because of habit, but because of a deep reverence for the Sabbath, and for the church."

Two of Hans' brothers, Ulrich Beer and Simon Beer, are also buried at Milford Cemetery.
