Ulrich, son of Christen and Katharina Uhlmann Beer; twin brother of Fred Beer. Came to America, Aug. 1866, arrived in New York City with brothers John U. and Simon Beer. Went to Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to join a fourth brother, Peter Beer, who had been in America since about 1854. The 4 brothers moved to Richland County Ohio about 1867. Ulrich originally found work in construction of the Erie Railroad; also worked as a cooper (barrel maker), as brother Peter was a foreman in a cooper shop.

Married Magdalena Lantz, 10 Oct. 1866 Richland Co., Ohio. Records show marriage of Uln Beer and Mag Lanz, 15 Oct. 1866; other information indicates the marriage was on 5 Oct. 1866 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Mansfield, by Elder Joseph Bella.
