Married Christen (Christian) Beer. They became a large but poor farming family in Canton Bern, Switzerland.
Their many children started coming to America about 1854. Christen and Katharina came over to Richland County, Ohio in 1867. Christen Beer died in 1878 as was buried in "Fleming Falls Cemetery" (Madison Twp., Richland Co.). As a widow, Katharina was living in Madison Township with her son Fred Beer in 1880. Among her many descendants who are also buried in Beer-Lantz Cemetery are Katharina's sons Fred and John U. Beer, and daughter Anna Beer Isley. Son Peter Beer (1833-1915) is buried Lexington Cemetery, Richland Co., Ohio. Three other sons, Simon, Hans, and Ulrich, are buried at Milford Cemetery, Milford, Indiana. Another daughter, Magdalena Beer Frederick (1830-1890) is buried near Fountain Creek, Illinois. One other son, Daniel Beer (1841-1912) never left Switzerland.
