Son of Christen Beer. Daniel Beer was born 6 April 1841, probably in Canton Bern, Switzerland; he died 18 July 1912 Latterbach, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Married Katharina von Bergen, 6 June 1863 [daughter of Johannas von Bergen, she was from Trub, Switzerland, christened in Meiringen 13 Nov. 1831; died Latterbach 28 Mar. 1913]. Only adult child of Christen Beer who did not emigrate to America; reportedly he wished to come to America, but his wife did not want to leave Switzerland. His occupation was a cooper (barrel maker), also raised bees, sold fine honey and goat's milk cheese.

Children (all b. Latterbach, Switzerland) -- Johannas Beer [b. 6 Sept. 1863]; Simon Beer [b. 6 Oct. 1865]; Daniel Beer [b. 1866, d. 1888 Richland Co., Ohio, bur. Lantz Cemetery, near Mansfield, Ohio]; Rosa Beer [b. 8 Sept. 1868 Canton Bern, Switzerland, d. 1889; she is buried next to Daniel Beer in Lantz Cemetery]; Freiderich Beer [b. 12 April 1870]; Elsie Beer [b. 12 Oct. 1871, came to America about 1896, mar. A.F. Snyder, not yet traced]; Wilhelm Beer [b. 12 Mar. 1874]; and Karl Beer [b. 17 Sept. 1879].

Reported that 2 sons came to America, one (Daniel) died soon after; the other married, had 2 sons, but died when still a young man. Daughter Rosa came to America and died soon after. Daughter Elsie came for a two-year visit, but met and married A.F. Snyder, and stayed in America where she raised a family. The other 3 sons stayed in Latterbach, Switzerland for their entire lives, as did their parents.
