Bob passed away at home, in the comfort of his loving family. He was born to Harry and Mary Crites at their home in Monroe County, Indiana. Bob was the 8th child of 9 kids.

He is survived by his oldest sister, Virginia Henry; youngest brother, David Crites; 7 children, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, 6 brothers and sisters, an infant daughter, Yvonne, and the love of his life for over 44 years, Janice Louise Crites.
Together, they raised their family of 7 children; 2 girls, Tina Marie Holler, and Frances Lavon Cassady; 5 sons, John Robert Ray, Robert Deward Crites Jr., Michael Dean Ray, Mark Anthony Crites, and William Floyd Ray.

Bob was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for over 50 years. Many of those years were spent as a superintendent for Superior Lumber and Building. As a carpenter by trade, there was nothing that he could not build with concrete, wood, or steel. Building was more than just a job for Bob; it was his life’s passion, second to only his family.

Pappy, although we know that you are building again in the presence of the Lord, you will still, always and forever be missed.

Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville, Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Tim Wiles officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
