Harry spent most of his boyhood life near Olney, IL. When he was 19 years old, he moved to Monroe County, IN to work and raise his own family. At the time of his death, he was farming, even though his health had been failing for the last 18 years.
On May 10, 1924, he married Mary Empsom, and to this union were born nine children. Surviving are six sons, Paul, Samuel, David and Bob, still at home; William and Albert of Bloomington, IN; three daughters, Virginia Henry of Martinsville, IN, Pauline Bertelsmann of Belleville, IL, and Margaret Harrington of Bloomington, IN; and six grandchildren.
He also leaves his father and step-mother, Clarence and Joan (Fisher) Crites of Olney; five brothers, Charlie, Carl, and Lee of Olney, IL, Noble of Bridgeport, IL, Joy of Hindsboro, IL; five sisters, Lela Gardner, Josephine Harmon, Innes Crites of Olney, IL, Juanita Strange of Flora, IL, and Lucy Craig of Bridgeport, IL.
Harry's mother and one infant sister, Verna Viola Crites, preceded him in death.
Harry was a member of the Indiana Ave. Church of Christ of Bloomington, where the funeral services were held. Interment in Valhalla Cemetery.
