Mary was the youngest of six children born to James Alexander and Candas Caroline (Moose) Pauley. She married (1)Frank Phillips in 1916, they had two children: Madeline Elaine and James F. She married (2) Carl Henry Foust in 1922 and they had 3 children: Esther Alma, Carl Henry and David Garth.

Services for Mary E. Foust, 72, of 2003 North Sixteenth, who died Thursday morning in a Boise hospital, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at summers Funeral Home by Dr. Mack McCray of the First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Dry Creek..
She was born Jan. 29, 1898, at Boulder, Mont., the daughter of James and Candice Pauley. She was married to Frank Phillips on Oct. 17, 1916, at Red Lodge, Mont., and he died January, 1919.
She was married to Carl H. Foust on July 3, 1922, at Billings, Mont., and they lived at Bridger, Mont. For a few years before moving to Hardin, Mont., in 1930. she then moved to Nampa July 4, 1936, and to Boise in October 1949, where she worked for the American Red Cross for 11 years.
She was a member of the first Baptist Church and Sawtooth Barracks No. 217, World War I veterans auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Madeline) Faught, Boise, and Mrs. John (Esther) Gray, Lakeview, Ore.; three sons, James Phillips, Quincy, Wash. , Carl J. Foust and David G. Foust, both of Boise; a sister, Mrs. Alex Hawthorne, Billings, Mont.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
The family suggests contributions to the Mountain States Institute or the First Baptist Church.
