James was the third of six children born to James Alexander and Candas Caroline (Moose) Pauley. He married Belle Marie Dickerson in 1924 and they had five children: Donald Edgar, James Lee, Percy David, Harvey Wendell and Ester Marie.

James Edgar Pauley, 53, died at his home in the Garden Home addition Sept. 12. He had been a resident of the community for over a year. He was born March 28, 1890, at Dayton, Wyo. Mr. Pauley is survived by his widow, Belle, a daughter Esther Marie, and three sons, James L. David and Harvey at the home; and Donald E, Portland, Ore; two sisters Mrs. Fannie Hawthorne, Bearcreek, Mont, and Mrs. Ellen Foust, Nampa, Ida and a brother David T. Pauley of Portland, Ore. He was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Cory and Moser chapel, the Rev. P. P. Stoute officiating. The Hotchkiss family sang. The American Legion pallbearers were B. J. Scott, Chester Hills, Dean Jones, Lester Cohrs, John Griffin and Clarence Dobson. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.
