I want to thank all of the findagrave.com volunteers who do such a great job with fulfilling the photo requests. It makes such a difference to have photos to go along with the memorials.

IF YOU SEND ME EDITS for any of my memorials, PLEASE also send your SOURCES for those edits so I can determine if the edits can be made. I will not add unverified info to my memorials.

I've been on this site for over 15 years now and I've watched it grow from being very basic to having all of the wonderful options it now offers. I especially love being able to link the generations together. However, I am exceedingly disappointed with the "new" look of the memorial pages. Way too many advertisements all over the page, top, bottom, and both sides. This very much detracts from the look of the memorial. It looks cheap now, and I find that very sad. Just because something is "new" doesn't mean it's better. The "old" look was more personal. I've paid $5 per memorial to take the ads off all of my direct line ancestors, so I've given a lot of money to FAG over the years. This site is making a LOT of money. Too bad they don't care about how the memorials look.

I ALWAYS read a member's bio page before sending a "suggested edit" to see if they require me to also send my sources. I am very sorry to say that few members care enough to take the time to ask for sources, or do anything else to verify the accuracy of the edits. I believe those members making/maintaining memorials have a responsibility to make sure they are accurate. I wish everyone would ask for sources. I see inaccurate info on memorials all the time, and what's sad is that people take the info on these memorials at face value and believe without a doubt that they are true. I also have to say that I'm tired of reading so many bio pages preaching at us, telling us what this site is meant for. They didn't design this site, so it's all just their personal opinions, nothing more, just like what I'm saying here. There are a LOT of varying opinions out there as to who to transfer to, whether or not obits should be added, etc. For some members it's just a numbers game, for others we take it very seriously, these memorials have a truly emotional connection to us. My memorials are all about remembering and honoring my ancestors. Some say this site is just about burial location, nothing else. I don't believe that. Maybe it was in the beginning, but it's so much more than that now. It's a place of remembrance, where we can leave photos, flowers, and write about the lives of our family members.

I just read someone's profile and they are asking the members NOT to add flowers to the memorials unless they are family members or close friends because it is confusing to the researchers. I think this is completely ridiculous! Please feel free to add flowers to my memorials. They are a nice way to say you care. Flags are wonderful too, to say "Thank you for your service" to all of our veterans.

NOTE: Findagrave.com has strict rules about not copying other peoples photos as they are copyrighted material. With this in mind, I would appreciate it if you don't copy the photos I have posted without my permission.

I have been doing genealogy research since 2001. In Dec 2012 I become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which had been a goal of mine for many years. Some of my ancestor lines are: Turnidge, Decker, Peters, Berberich, Claymon, Eden, Classen, Wirth, Irwin, Pennington, Terrell, Crowley, Fletcher, Connell, Gallea, Atkinson, Glover, Curd, Vorce, Clarke, Russell, Letman, Whitton, Nutting, Lea, Letman, Boyce, Baker, Douglas, Shepherd, Rhea, Perkins, Schmanski, Tadych and Griffith.
