f you are requesting the addition of an obituary to a memorial, please provide the source of the article. Please provide name of the newspaper, date of publication, and page. Proper credit should be always given . The location of the paper is always helpful.
Thank you. I will no longer accept obituaries unless properly credited.
Since the move to Ancestry and the new website, newspaper obituaries, death certificates and other scanned documentation is allowed. We encourage members to move the images down to the bottom of the photo display so that they are not the first thing you see when viewing a memorial page.
Thank you,
Find a Grave Administration
If you decide you just have to post a death certificate, please be sure that the Social Security Number is unreadable. Thank you. If there is a death certificate posted to one of my memorials and you wish to have it removed please understand you must contact the individual that posted it.
From Find A Grave member LKat's profile page I have copied the following statement that I totally agree with. I do add the rank if the individual died while in the service or retired from the service
ADDING THE RANK TO A MEMORIAL
Use of one's former rank by non-retired military personnel is not a prescribed usage by the Department of Defense (DoD). Use of rank is reserved for career 20-year retirees -- with the intention that their use of the rank is for personal social use -- and is not for use subsequent civilian work-related situations.
In a bio or in a resume the service to our nation would be included as part of one's experience -- it's just using the rank as part of one's name the DoD specifically prohibits.
Note from Find A Grave Guidelines:
Links to other websites or email addresses are not allowed within any memorial.
