Margaret came from Ireland in 1848.
Joseph Caleb and Margaret Ann were married in 1854.
Joseph bought 100 acres from his mothers 400. Called his land Altonville. Later changed it to Belfast, Ontario. Margaret's sister Ann Jane was married to John Agar and her brother John Irwin was married to Mary Jane Agar.
In 1869 he moved with his family to Lucknow and 10 years later moved to Sundridge, Ontario.
Joseph and Margaret Ann Irwin Alton had 10 Children.
They moved west and farmed Partridge Hills district in 1899 or 1900.
