Joseph bought 100 acres from his mothers 400. Called his land Altonville. Later changed it to Belfast, Ontario. Margaret's sister Ann Jane was married to John Agar and her brother John Irwin was married to Mary Jane Agar.
In 1869 he moved with his family to Lucknow and 10 years later moved to Sundridge, Ontario.
