Pearl was reared in Vernal, Utah. She was a graduate of Uintah High, where she was active in drama and athletics and has also taken special BYU courses in religion. She still enjoys drama very much; she wrote and produced two plays while drama director of her ward, which received special awards, and taught drama and speech for two years in her ward.
She also enjoys crocheting, knitting and gardening. She has served in the PTA, as MIA president and in many teaching positions in her ward. Despite her large family, she has also found time to not only assist her husband, but to maintain employment much of the time herself. For many years she has worked for the Standard Saddle Tree Company. They now reside in Davis.
