William Sewell Massey, 66, was honored at services held Monday at the Vernal Mortuary. Mr. Massey died at the Uintah County Hospital December 19 after a long illness.
He was born June 11, 1908 in Heber to the family of Lewis Van Massey and Mable Thacker. He married Sarah Frances Murray January 21, 1931 in Vernal. They were later divorced. Mr. Massey has worked as a rancher and farmer and is a member of Vernal Second Ward.
He is survived by sons and daughters, Clifford L., Vernal; Mrs. Floyd (Rita) Needles, Vernal; Mrs. E. Rae (Barbara) Taylor, Vernal; Douglas, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Mrs. Jim (Audrey) Strain, Little Rock, Arkansas; Mrs. Mark (Elaine) Allen , Garden Grove, California; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; father, Vernal; brothers, sisters, Roy, Edwin, Norman, Mrs. Melvin "Bud" (Mable) Neiberger, Mrs. Richie (Pearl) Stubbs, Mrs. Grant (LaPreal) Southam, all of Vernal; Mrs. Sylvan (Wanda) Reynolds, Roosevelt; Mrs. Jerry (Lois) Hatch, Rangely, Colorado; Odis, Mission, Texas; Joseph, Farmington, New Mexico; Don Mack, Colorado and J. D., Altamont.
Services were held Monday at the Vernal Second Ward. Burial was in the Maeser Cemetery.

W. S. MASSEY HONORED AT LAST RITES
William Sewell Massey, 68, was honored at funeral services held Monday in the Vernal Second Ward Chapel. Bishop Glade Watkins officiated.
Prayer at the mortuary was by Wade Needles, grandson: prelude and postlude music was furnished by Pat Jensen. Bishop Watkins offered remarks.
First speaker was Bishop Gary B. Taylor. Musical selections were Beautiful Land" and "Beyond the Sunset", by Paul and Pat Jensen accompanied by Joyce Brown. An instrumental, "Silver Haired Daddy", was by Reginal Burchinal and Sylvan Reynolds. Concluding speaker was Erma B. Taylor, who read a tribute to daddy written by Mr. Masey's children. Benediction was by Larry Knight.
Dedication of the grave was by grandson, Van Stubbs. Pallbearers were Wade Needles, Scott Massey and Brett Massey, grandsons; Joseph Zelph Massey, Don Massey and Norman Massey, brothers. Burial was in the Maeser Cemetery.
Out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Elaine) Allen and family of Garden Grove, California; Douglas Massey, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Joseph Zelph Massey, Farmington, New Mexico; Don Massey, Mack, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Charles B.
