ELLEN JOSEPHINE CLEARY ALEXANDER (1873-1938)

Ellen Josephine Cleary was born in El Paso, Illinois, on January 31, 1873. She was the daughter of Mi8chael and Sarah Cleary. She died at the St Anthony Hospital in Dodge City, Kansas on May 27, 1938.

She was married to James Ellisworth Alexander, on September, 11, 1894, at Rantoul, Illinois. To this union were born 12 children, 4 of whom died in infancy.

She moved with her husband and family to Oklahoma in February 1901 where they lived near Woodward until they moved to Ness County, Kansans, in August 1918.

Mrs. Alexander was raised in the Catholic faith and although not active in the church in later years she always tried to live according to Christian principles.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her faithful husband and her eight children: Joe of Rock, Kanasas;Marguerite of Chicago, ILL.; Mrs. Florence Cutler of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Ellen Holmes of Ransom; Leo of Ness Cjity, and Michael, Garnet and Edna of the home. There are also 16 grandchildrfen. She has five sistgers and tree brothers living in Illinois.

Besides, these and other relatives she leaves a host of friends who have written this tribute: "In tribute to a "In tribute to a neighbor, never in the twenty years of living in our midst as a neighborhas any one ever heard Mrs. Alexander utter a of complaint over conditions that others complained of, She has ever been cheerful and uncomplaining and will be greatly missed by neighbors and friends who are grieved by her passing.

"Y"ou cannot say, you must not say that she is dead. She is just away. With a cheersmile, and a wave of the hand, she has wandered into an unknown land. So think of her still as the same, and may, she is not dead, she is just away.!"
