JOHN SMURL
John Smurl, aged 55, died this morning at 6:25 o'clock at his home at 608 South Main street, Parsons, following an illness of complications. Deceased was a former resident of East End, having lived there for many years before moving to Parsons. He is survived by his wife and the following children: William Smurl of East End, John [Should be James] and Mary Smurl at home; [No Mention of Samuel] also by one brother, William Smurl of Carbondale. He was a member of St. Domonic's [sic] Church and of the Holy Name Society of that church. Funeral announcement will be made later.

FUNERAL OF JOHN SMURL
The Funeral of John Smurl was held this morning from the family home, 606 South Main street, Parsons, and was largley attended. Requiem mass was celebrated in St. Dominic's Church by Rev. Father Leonard. There were many floral tributes in evidence. The pall bearers were James McAfee, Denis Harley, William Meehan, Frank Gallagher, John Brader and Patrick Higgins. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery at Hanover.
