Grave stone has 1886, but WWI and WWII draft cards have 1885.

Firstborn son of John James Smurl and Helen E. Ferguson. Husband of Catherine O'Donnell. Father of seven; William, Regina, James (died at 14 days), James R., John W., Raymond and Joseph P.

WILLIAM SMURL
William Smurl, 59, died early morning at the home of son, James Smrl [sic], 367 North Avenue, city.

Prior to his illness Mr. Smurl employed by Frieder and Sons, Parson section, city. He was a member of St. John's Church, Main Street, and its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are these children, Mrs Joseph Koch and James at home; John and Joseph, with the US Army; brother, James, and a sister, Mrs. Patrck Kennedy, Philadelphia.

The body was removed to the funeral home, 185 Kidder Street, from where the funeral will be held this morrning at 9:30 with a requirem mass at 10 in St John's Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.
